In the 1900s, the fight for equal rights for women continued. The women of the 20th century were gaining more respect little by little. By this time period, women were fighting for the right to vote. Women, unlike men, did not get as much respect. Men thought that they were so much better than all the women but, they are both equally important. Women protested a lot by making posters and signs. The women, and other suffragists, also had been doing a ton of campaigning. Their campaigns were held up and slowed down during the times of World War I (History.com). Their voices were finally heard in the year of 1920.
A big part of the Women’s Right Movement in the 1900s was the 19th amendment. The amendment was first introduced to Congress in the year 1878 (Archives.gov). The 19th amendment was passed by the House of Representatives on May 21st, 1919, and the senate passed it two weeks later (Archives.gov). On August 18th, 1920, the amendment was finally adopted by all the states in the United States (Archives.gov). This amendment grants the right for women to vote, which is also known as women's suffrage (History.com). On the day of the election in 1920, women had voted for the first time in history (History.com). All of the women who dedicated a lot of time and hard work finally had gotten repaid with this right to vote.
